I have bought a large cast iron fire place, I am wanting to know if its a re-production or original, anyone got a clue how I find out?? Ive tried to look for the same style on the net but theres so many different styles/patterns.
Anyone offer any help, I can email pics if they can shed some light????

There should be a name somewhere on the fireplace or stove part. Bucks has been around for a while. There are other older makers of cast iron stoves and fireplaces that are worth considerably more than Bucks and Bucks are worth a lot. Find a name on the piece somewhere and maybe a date or other symbols. Record what you have found then go to several different antique dealers and see what they have to say. Another source(s) is the Sothbey’s and Christie’s auction house websites. Or you might be able to find something at smithsonian.com. Happy researching!
