I have had a reoccuring dream "setting." Different people are involved and different things happen in the dreams, but they all take place in this beautiful old, complicated victorian house. It is HUGE, like the Winchester Mystery House in CA, but it is white. It is well known (in my dream) as a "haunted" house.
Anyway, there is a room in the house that I am always afraid to go in, but inevitably in the dream, I have to go into it. The room is large, rectangular with a door on each end, and one in the middle (the door I walk in through) and there is an unlit black fireplace opposite the door that I walk through. It is kind of dark, and dirty. The room is inhabited/haunted by invisible demons, and I eventually feel a deeeeeep sense of dread, sometimes terror, and I always suddenly leave the room feeling horrified, shaken and stressed.
So, what the heck does this symbolize?? Any guesses?

You are right… I am my own best interpreter… but I need some fresh ideas of different ways to look at the elements in the dreams. Thank you for the encouragement!

Beautiful old, complicated Victorian house = conservative thinking
Haunted house = fear
House = shelter, protection
It is so clear you have some fear and insecurity in your life. You projected this house in your dream to tell you that you are insecure. Normally, house is giving people protection and secure feeling. In your case, you probably already know, you are afraid. It basically means sense of insecurity. However, your house is a classic old house. That may have something to do how you feel about things. You may be a conservative thinking person and that may have something to do with your insecurity. Perhaps, you don’t want to get involved with what other people are thinking and therefore, you feel left alone and insecure?
You are the best interpreter of your dream.
You need to meditate on the meaning of the hidden room. What are your fears as you enter the room?
The house probably symbolizes a complicated life. So what are your fears?
You will come up with a better answer than anyone else.
The dream means you were asleep. That is all. Dreams are not messages from anyone or anything (unless you are the king of egypt)
Go to this website. . . freakydreams.com I hope I get ten points for this answer
The house in your dream represents you and your subconscious mind. You have suffered trauma of some sort that you’ve locked away deep inside of your mind. Your conscious and subconscious are at war. You are trying to remember something. Go into the room, try to control the situation in your dream, look at the demons, who are they? what are they. If you have this dream over and over, it will resurface, and you can have a lucid dream in which you face the demons. (your demons.)
Good Luck to you.
I agree with the person who said that you are best equipped to interpret this dream. That said, why not try making a list of issues that are eating at you that you are afraid to confront, but you know you have to? See if one of them feels like it might be the Dreaded Room.
Is this dream frightening you or stressing you out enough that it’s interfering with your waking life or keeping you from getting rest? If so, a trip to a counselor might be in order. A decent one might be able to help you get to the bottom of this.
Fear in ur dreams is the implication of fear in ur life.my guess is that u r going thru some sort of a prob now,and u r scared to face it.it can be very small thing also.so u solve ur prob in ur real life and may be this dream will stop by itself.
good luck….
Building usually symbolizes your body. In this case, it probably have to do with you spiritual life, too. My guess is that room represents a room in your life that satan got a hold of. The unlit fireplace probably represents the Holy Spirit or may be your spiritual fire, which is not there. There is nobody to help you, but only Jesus Christ. Invite Jesus Christ into your heart and let Him enter all the rooms in your life; and He will heal you.
