So, I’ve always been commented for the way I dress, my personality, intelligence, and so on but I’ve never committed myself to a real relationship with anyone in particular and so I’ve always been curious as to how a woman really feels about someone like me and if it is appealing or am I just best friend material.

If I had to classify myself I would say that I was somewhat "metrosexual", a bit of a nerd, ambitious, humorous but not a class clown, conservative morals.

"Metrosexual" – So yes, I do care how my appearance and my hygiene quite a bit. I was raised in a traditional family so my dressing style has always been preppy, some would say classy, others would say on the verge of homosexual. By metrosexual I mean I do care about how I dress, how my hair looks, I use hair products, facial cleansers, cologne. I try my best to keep clean—I am slightly a neat freak—and stay fresh, I follow a nutrition plan and work out at the gym. But I am not extreme, I do not get manicures and pedicures.

Nerd & Ambitious – One of the most important goals of mine is to get into Harvard Medical School and become a plastic surgeon, followed by getting an MBA from Harvard Business School. I envision a life helping others and hopefully having time to spend some summers in 3rd world countries to donate money and participate in humanitarian aid groups. I am not ashamed of spending hours studying, volunteering, interning, but I know how to have fun, although I would prefer playing sports to binge drinking and random sex (although I’ve had my fair share of drinking games).

Humorous – I would say I am a light hearted humorous person but I am not the class clown and I can be serious but funny depending on the situation.

Conservative morals – I’m not the type of person who will get shitfaced the night before class nor am I into random hook ups. I am not attracted to "hot" girls but would rather use beautiful, pretty, or gorgeous, I don’t know if this makes sense. My sense of fun is probably different from a lot of college students, I would rather go sailing, sitting by the fireplace, sitting on a train going through the fields of tuscany, visiting the luvre, or sitting down by the sand watching the sunset than to go to a party.

I love the beautiful things in life: nature, luxury cars, art, architecture, furniture (particularly victorian and french). I enjoy cooking, a typical activity associated with women. I occupy a lot of my time playing sports and working out so I don’t really spend that much time to say go to the movies.

So, I know I wrote a lot, but what would a woman feel about someone like me? In addition, what would a college woman feel about a person like me?

I’ve never been in a committed relationship because I’ve never met someone that had the same criteria or someone I felt really matched. It’s not like I have never had the chance to get into a relationship if I had the desire to do so.

What Style Is This 1890 House?

Can someone help me out here, please. What architectural design name would you call this old house? It is square and totally symmetrical except on the front 1st floor, the door is on the left and a window on the right (rather than a centered door). It has a front porch with it’s own little roof almost completely across the front with 3 pillars of square posts. The 2nd floor has 2 even windows and there is a dormer? above where the attic is. The roof peaks from all 4 sides and has about a 15" or so overhang all the way around. Inside there is a foyer with the parlor or sitting room on the right and the staircase on the left. There is another door straight behind the foyer to the dining room. Behind the parlor is another room which looks like a bedroom as it has a closet, behind it and the dining room are a bath on the left and kitchen on the right. Then moving to the back of the 1st floor are the laundry area & mud room on the left & a family room (or former bedroom) behind the kitchen. The parlor has a stained glass window and looks like a fireplace was replaced with a stove as the chimney remains, but no fireplace and there is a flue cover. Pocket doors lead to the parlor. The outside of the house is rather plain, no shutters, fancy carvings, or curly cues. It is not a Victorian, Spanish, Mediterranean, or Craftsman. Is it "old farmhouse" or "federal" or something else? Is it "foursquare"? It had some remodeling over the years (inside) and currently has siding on the outside and is painted white. A breezeway from the side mudroom to the garage or (old carriage house) was added. In the garage there is a little "ice room" and an area that looks like it may have been for canning or something. Appreciate your help. Oh, there is no basement and upstairs it looks like there was possibly a maids room, sewing room, in addition to 3 bedrooms. The bathroom is huge…looks like it was originally a bedroom (has a closet).

We moved into a townhome with one of those 80’s style cobblestone fireplaces. The fireplace is in a corner next to the stairs and the stone surround goes from floor to ceiling. It looks very out of date with our modern furniture. I would like to remodel it but we have a very small budget. Could I do something like paint it white and add a nice mantel or something? we are having trouble deciding what color to paint our room!! it is in an old victorian house that has the original fireplace hearth in it, so we will not change that. and the tiles around the fireplace are mauve (ew.) the hallway is sage, one bedroom is gray, and another is yellow. so it cant be any of those colors. i might do my bathroom chocolate… so i dont think i would do that in the master either. what should i do?! what matches with mauve?
i will not paint it pink or red. it is pink now and it looks TERRIBLE with the mauve. i think red would look worse. Also, its me and my fiance…so it has to be for a guy and girl.

I live in an apartment, with electric baseboard heat. I bought an electric fireplace, with hopes that it would lower my electric bill a little, and look nice at the same time. I am very interested in a house for sale in massachusetts where I presently live. The house is like a raised ranch style with 4 bedrooms,3 bathrooms and a half an acre of fenced in property. It does not need much except a good interior painting. The asking price is 252,500 with 00 back from seller if there is an accepted offer by March 16th 2007. I need to know what I should offer for this home. It will be the first I have ever owned. It has been on the market for at least 5 months and a relocation company is handling the sale. The house is 1224 sq ft not including the finished family room w/fireplace and bathroom and bedroom downstairs, so I would guess that would make the sq ft to be around 1700 to 1800 sq ft. Trying to figure out the best approach here. We have a living room bare wall for the soon tv wall mount but the cable outlet is on top of a fireplace which is just beside this wall. Can Geek squad fish the cable to this wall? Or do I set up direct tv first to come and re route the cable wires and place a cable out let on the wall first.

Geek squad says they can fish it out but I’m not confident if they can re-route the cables. Direct tv is 49$ to do the custom cable wire installation.

I’m talking about my grandma’s house. (I asked this question somewhere else and got 0 answers, so polls & surveys it the best for answers)
I think it’s late Victorian but my mum thinks it’s Edwardian.
Go to google earth and type in…

The exact result is her house and look at the outside using the street view . Oh, yes, she’s moved out of the house and it’s empty now because it’s very, very, very sadly getting knocked down in two weeks.. . Stalk her all you want, you won’t find her!

Anyway, the front of the house is double fronted, door in the middle, two single sash windows to either side, a veranda, tin roof and decorative architraves around the door and windows. The original house was four rooms and a hallway, an outdoor kitchen, bathroom, laundry and toilet.

Walk through the front door, probably changed in the 60’s to a porthole door, into an hallway. In the middle of the hallway, there is a hallway arch which looks victorian to me, not the wooden edwardian kind, similar to this one…

Go back out of the hallway and turn right is another bedroom, same stuff, sash window, you can see where the chimney breast was, four panelled door and ceiling rose. Go down the hallway, turn left, another bedroom, sash window, four panelled door, old chimney breast, no cornicing and an un-vented ceiling rose. Turn back into the hallway and turn right into a living room, no cornicing, ceiling rose, no door, like the other rooms. Go back into the hallway and go to the end where an extension was added in the early 70’s. My mum told me the kitchen, bathroom, laundry and toilet were all outside, if that helps. Then the extension connected the bathroom and kitchen to the main house.

Nothing great about the extension, just a long room. Then there’s the kitchen, which has a low ceiling height, and the bathroom which which is even shorter than the kitchen. Then outside, is the laundry which has an edwardian looking door and an old fireplace. There is the outside toilet which is just a toilet and a door made out of a few boards and nails.

The whole house is built out of brick but has weatherboard at the front. It looks very similar to this house…

.. we are in a recession! general electric reported a 6% drop… is this enough to convince the republicans that we are at least close to recession, if not IN one right now?

and please dont accuse me of being a lib who just loves bad news.. i wouldn even consider myself completely liberal at all…and i HATE that we are in a recession as me and my hubby are small business owners… we have a fireplace business where we do sales and every service for fireplaces… and no one is building.. when no one is building a home.. no one needs a fireplace… about 60% of our sales come from new homes… so please dont accuse me of being a lover of bad news like the republicans tried to suggest the last time i posted a question like this… and how many of you believed tyrant goerge w when he confidently said, "WE ARE NOT HEADED TOWARDS A RECESSION!" he knew we were/are.. why cant he EVER tell the truth??
xiphos: yes, if our business goes under, george bush will be partly to blame…. he is to blame for the ridiculous price of oil and the price of everything else goin up.. i know he isnt the only one responsible, but he plays a big part… invading acountry we should have stayed out of was HIS FAULT! i cant wait until ppl see bush for the lying greedy, evil and corrupt demon he is… but i dont think his supporters will ever see that no matter what he does… if they havnt seen it by now, there is no hope for them.

and i do believe that change is the answer for sure, but that doesnt mean i will be voting obama or hilary… i dont support ANY candidates in this election… especially mccain!

euro: what do you mean we never really got out of a recession?? when recently was there a recession?? there hasnt been one in my lifetime, except for in the 80’s.. i know that when i was growing up as a teen, the economy was booming! my parents business was the best it had been…it didnt start to decline until recently…and when i got married in 2003, the eeconomy was ok then too… not as good as in the 90’s but it was still ok.heck, i would love to go back to payin .24 for gas like it was in 2003.
