I don’t think its tacky. Lots of mantelpieces and fireplace surrounds are painted white. Against a brick colored wall, the white should really pop out and look fresh.

yes. and not useful. you will never ever enjoy an electric fireplace. you would be better off with a lava lamp or a fish tank.

cheap soluton: paint the brick a soft mocha or latte if your going with white.
