I’m moving to a new apartment, and in the living room of this apartment, the most opportune place for the television would be mounted above the fireplace. However, I’m worried. My LCD screen is 42" and of course fairly heavy; it does have the necessary back to be wall-mounted.
How safe is it to mount an LCD? Is there much danger of it falling?
And no, I don’t plan on using the fireplace. The apartment happens to have one, doesn’t mean I want to use it.

Two things to have:
1. A Solid stud in the wall
2. A universal Mount that says it is capable of holding a 42” and up.
It is totally safe to mount a LCD (there made to be mounted) and there is little to no danger of it falling if you follow the top 2 steps… make sure you talk to your land lord before starting on any project in your apartment.
