If the wall heater is installed properly, it should be possible depending on the size of the B-vent connected to the heater and the gas line feeding it. However, removing a wall heater and replacing it with a gas log will leave the room without a real heat source. wall heaters are designed specifically to radiate heat outwards instead of upwards whereas gas fireplaces are intended more for aesthetic purposes and don’t generally provide a lot of heat, venting directly upwards.
