I just bought a new condo with a gas fireplace in the living room, and I’m purchasing a 40" LCD-TV for the space above it. However, the fireplace has no mantle, which leads me to wonder if the heat escaping upward from the fireplace will shorten the life of the LCD or worse.
Also, will the installer be able to route all the cables and power outlet behind the TV properly, even with the flue directly behind? I imagine with masonry/wood-burning fireplaces, this is less of an issue, since the flue is set back deeper.
Thanks in advance for advice from anyone who’s been in the same situation!

It will depend on how high you are mounting above the fireplace.
As for routing cables, you won’t be able to tell without looking. Usually it can be done, but you are better off having an installer take a look for you.
Call the place that you are getting the tv from and ask them to send their installer to take a look.
Good Luck.
