A foundry makes two types of cast iron fireplace grill: the super grill and the deluxe grill.
Producing one super grill requires 25 kilograms of iron and 25 minutes of labour, while producing one deluxe grill requires 35 kilograms of iron and 20 minutes of labour.
The profit from a super grill is .5 and from a deluxe grill . There are 6,850 kilograms of iron and 95 hours of labour available each week.
As there is a surplus from last week the owner has decided that no more than 150 super grills can be made this week.
Determine the number of each grill (super, deluxe) that should be made this week in order to maximize profit?
How should i use trial and error to find number of each grill?

We have a really nice open cast iron fireplace but our little one is just starting to crawl and will soon be walking too, so we need to stop her crawling into the fire… there are loads of baby/child fire guards on sale in the UK but MAN are they all ugly! They are just cages – it makes your house look like a prison. The best one we’ve seen is from Mothercare that has a curve to it, but the actual bars are still cage-like.

Whereas with the normal (non child safety) fire guards / spark cages, there are hundreds of really attractive looking ones, with nice meshes, wiggly-bars, stained glass screens etc. But these don’t attach to the wall – the baby would just pull them over on top of her…

Are there any baby safe fire guards out there that look like normal ‘pretty’ fire guards?

the wall is normal 2×4 studs and t-111 exterior. i left a 4" gap around the dimensions of the fireplace but need to know how to seal the wall to the fireplace. it is a large cast iron fireplace. it is not a pot belly stove but a full size fireplace. i have been told i need fireboard. is that all?

Hi, I currently own a 1931 Sears Roebuck home. It still has the original cast iron fireplace. All looks to be in good condition except the "heat exchanger"….basically the vent in the front of the fireplace that blows the hot air into the room….it’s making a noise when I turn it on.

Appreciate if anyone has any guidance on how / where I can have this repaired so that it doesn’t make a noise?

I left a computer speaker on top of my cast iron fireplace- tried pulling it off-which only stretched the goopy material.. fireplace is still cooling down – but I have NO idea of HOW to get that stuff off??
