People can live in a house or in a flat. I live in a block of flats together with my parents. Our flat is situated on the third floor and it has 5 rooms – bathroom, bedroom, livingroom, kitchen and playroom. Our bathroom is rather small. There is a laver, lavatory, bath and shower. There is also one big mirror and a washing machine. There are many creams, combs and brushes in front of the mirror.
My bedroom is rather big. You can find there 2 beds, one wooden warderobe and two bedside tables with a red lamp on each of them. There are 3 gorgeous horses pictures on the walls. We also have a lovely green rug in our bedroom.
There are two armchairs, one big red sofa and a modern fireplace in the livingroom. You can find there also one big wall unit and a TV set. The rug in the livingroom is brown with red triangles. We have a lovely glassy lustre in our livingroom which all my friends admire.
The kitchen is small but very modern. There are 4 chairs, one wooden table, one old cooker, one microwave owen and a red cupboard.
My playroom is my favourite place in the flat. I share it with my older sister. When I am tired or have a hard day at schol, it´s is the best place to rest up. When you go into my playroom, you will see a table and a computer with a printer on it. I often play pc games or surf internet there. There are also two beds in the corner of the room.
My sister and me often help my mum to tidy up all the rooms in the flat. We vacuum clean and dust a place. If necessary, I also cook lunch and wash up dishes after the dinner.

Where to begin…okay–I have ten chapters in my Fantasy/Fiction book, and I am working on finishing the longest chapters, 11 & 12. Anyway, there are two fatherly/motherly characters that look after the four children (main characters). One, a Goldheart (Noumenon Changer/Demigod), is named Mr. Wolff. He is 69 years old, though he looks younger for reasons you wouldn’t understand unless you read the book. He owns Wolff Manor, is very rich, is a anthropologist, yadda, yadda, yadda. Then, there is Ms. Marian Hallman, his assistant, who is 59 years old. There’s a very complicated and tearjerking story behind their relationship when they were in their twenties and thirties having to do with the enemy, a werewolf bite, over-drinking, and a son. Anyway, they had to give up their son, they had a fight, he was drunk–and she left. He had already deserted the second Guild war, and after she left he continued drinking and almost lost his house. Then, when he was fifty-five, she came back and he agreed to employ her as his assistant. So, in the 11th and 12th chapters, everybody’s been trekking through the desert, they’ve fought two Darks (They enemy, Galvin and Lily) and a few Hellhounds, then they blow up the dwarf compound that has the fuel so the Darks can bore down into Atlantis–and Mr. Wolff teleports them back to London once they’ve done this, and after talking, everybody goes to their rooms. I wanted a sentimental (not erotic) scene between the two, in which Marian tends to his wounds, shaves him, etc. I don’t know where, but I read that grooming shows love in a way. Bear with me:

Although dirt and sweat clung to his face, Benjamin collapsed onto the armchair as soon as he entered the room, disregarding his mud-caked shoes by the contemporary fireplace and happy to be in his home country. He rubbed his wounded shoulder, blood soaking through his shirt, creasing his eyebrows in pain.
“Let me see,” whispered a voice. Soft, small hands pried his giant, beaten hands away from his wound and pulled aside his shirt, unbuttoning it. Sticky, warm blood caked the thick, wispy hair on his chest, bleeding from a deep gash across his skin. Steam fogged the entire room as he washed; breathing in the humidity and feeling the water beat against his skin. Every joint and bone in his body aching, he turned off the water, snatching his robe from the rack and stepping over to the mirror to assess his appearance. He lathered his rough chin and hairy cheeks, bringing the razor to the edge of his sideburn. His hand shook from the pain in his arm, the handle dropping to the floor. As he bent down to reach for it, he found that Marian had already picked it up. “Let me help you.” she said quietly, stepping up to him.
After stroking over his hairy face and carefully shaving his upper lip, she ran a comb through his wet hair until it was dry. White hairs were mixed with grays, browns, and reds, all soft to the touch. She laid her chin upon his head, resting momentarily and sighing.
That’s all I’ve got, but I’ve been weeping over the keyboard at the thought of this. You would be as well if you had read the whole story up to this point. I’m so attatched to these characters and their story, I cry every time I right an exchange between them. :”(

Second Answer–You really helped me! As for adjectives–hairy #1 could be replaced with ‘stubbly’, and hairy #3 could be replaced by ‘scruffy’. I like the idea of lingering on the shaving part. It does require trust. When this has been up for an hour, I’ll give you best answer! Unless, of course, there’s one that’s better–but I highly doubt that.
Third Answer–I know! I love old love stories. I like them much better than love stories between people in their thirties and below. It’s wierd because I’m thirteen. I guess that’s why other girls make fun of me….:(

What color pillows to go on my couch?

The couch is very light tan. End tables and coffee table are espresso. The walls are painted a water chestnut color which is very similar to a very light beige. Fireplace painted white as are all of the built in bookshelves. Off white curtains. Lamps and hardware nickel. Modern style living room. I want a good color to make up for all the whites/tans/browns/light beige.

I say there are 2 dreams homes, one you know you’ll never have and the other you’ll have to work hard for and be patient to eventually have it.

My dream home I know I’ll never have is 5 bedroom historic (colonial or victorian home) and is 2 stories with the last bedroom way at the tip of the house in it’s own little space. There would be 2 stairways leading upstairs, meaning a space in between. The top of the stairway will have rails, of course, and will be very spacious to put 2 chairs with a table, lamp and a mirror. The master suite would have a garden bathtub and a shower, his and hers sink and a walk in closet, one side for me and the other for my husband. Maybe our room would have a fireplace and the dining room would be huge to fit a dinette of 8 people. I built a tube grate for my fireplace with 6 – 2" tubes and a 250 CFM blower and when I build up a roering fire you can’t hold the back of your hand in front of one of the tubes long enough to say one thousand one before jerking it back. It is heating a 1200 Sq. Ft. house in 15 degree weather as long as I keep the fire going and I can get it hot enough in here to make us open the doors sometimes, but I was wondering how many BTU’s it is putting out?

Just bought an electric fire – is it cheaper than running a gas fire?

Hi, I’ve just bought one of those "modern" black glass wall mounted electric fires. It is a compromise with my husband and we thought if we went for this one, it would look very nice and as it sits on the wall it does away with the need for the whole fireplace surround/mantlepiece. You can run it just on the flame effect for as cheap as a lamp but I wondered if you had it on for heat too, would it be more expensive to run than a gas fire?
I live in the UK by the way !

We moved into a townhome with one of those 80′s style cobblestone fireplaces. The fireplace is in a corner next to the stairs and the stone surround goes from floor to ceiling. It looks very out of date with our modern furniture. I would like to remodel it but we have a very small budget. Could I do something like paint it white and add a nice mantel or something? I don’t want to mess it up since we will be selling in a couple years.

I was going to get a 42" TV and mount it above a low fireplace that isn’t functioning (so there’s no heat/soot concerns). The wall above the fireplace is drywall and I don’t yet have a stud finder. Most likely, would there be normal spaced studs in front of a chimney? I’m just concerned about finding something I can screw the wall mount into.

We just bought a house and the fireplace is neither gas or electric. Do I just put wood in the fireplace and open the damper. This is the first house I ever owned with a fireplace. We live in Southern California and it only gets cold in the winter. But I just want to prepare myself. Don’t want to burn the house down or smoke the house if you get my drift. I live in an apartment where I do not control my heat. I live in New York State, so it gets pretty cold here. It is permissable to have a fireplace and I already know the pros and cons of having one. My question is: should I go with electric or use burning gels. Which is more realistic, economical and warmer. Can anyone recommend a particular site, store or brand? I am very interested in a house for sale in massachusetts where I presently live. The house is like a raised ranch style with 4 bedrooms,3 bathrooms and a half an acre of fenced in property. It does not need much except a good interior painting. The asking price is 252,500 with 00 back from seller if there is an accepted offer by March 16th 2007. I need to know what I should offer for this home. It will be the first I have ever owned. It has been on the market for at least 5 months and a relocation company is handling the sale. Can someone help me ? The house is 1224 sq ft not including the finished family room w/fireplace and bathroom and bedroom downstairs, so I would guess that would make the sq ft to be around 1700 to 1800 sq ft. Can anyone help me figure out an offer?

Trying to figure out the best approach here. We have a living room bare wall for the soon tv wall mount but the cable outlet is on top of a fireplace which is just beside this wall. Can Geek squad fish the cable to this wall? Or do I set up direct tv first to come and re route the cable wires and place a cable out let on the wall first.

Geek squad says they can fish it out but I’m not confident if they can re-route the cables. Direct tv is 49$ to do the custom cable wire installation.

.. we are in a recession! general electric reported a 6% drop… is this enough to convince the republicans that we are at least close to recession, if not IN one right now?

euro: what do you mean we never really got out of a recession?? when recently was there a recession?? there hasnt been one in my lifetime, except for in the 80′s.. i know that when i was growing up as a teen, the economy was booming! my parents business was the best it had been…it didnt start to decline until recently…and when i got married in 2003, the eeconomy was ok then too… not as good as in the 90′s but it was still ok.heck, i would love to go back to payin .24 for gas like it was in 2003.

We just bought an old victorian home, and there is a fireplace in the master bedroom. the original hearth is still on it, and the tiles on the surround are a mauve color. i dont know what color to paint the walls!! i dont like tan or off white, and the walls are pink now and it looks gross. it cant be yellow because room accross the hall is yellow, and i dont want them both to be. gray is a possibility, but then what would i do for curtains and the bed spread?

The picture is actually a somewhat heavy mirror about 2 ft wide & 3 ft high. I don’t know how much the picture weighs. The wall is actually over a fireplace in a very modern home. I would guess that the wall is dry wall.

At first I suggested those picture-hanging kits consisting of a nail & a hook (maybe use 2 to accomodate the weight). My mother (it is her house) feels that "molly" bolts would be better. Molly bolts are these plactic gizmos that you hammer into a drilled hole and hold a screw which you hang the picture on.

Forgive me if my terminology is incorrect.

I’m wondering if I should purchase/use one of the above mentioned models, or if I should just pay more and buy the saw elsewhere for the better quality. What are your thoughts? And if I do buy elsewhere, do you have any suggestions for a not-too-expensive saw at a hardware store in the bay-area/north-bay, California?

Lastly, I am not choosing to rent because I’m a beginner with tile-cutting, and I don’t want to feel rushed.

(My projects include: refacing a fireplace with tile, tiling a small bathroom, tiling a small/average sized kitchen floor, and perhaps some misc. mosaic work. Mostly ceramic tile, though I might try a few cuts in granite for accent pieces.)

I have had a reoccuring dream "setting." Different people are involved and different things happen in the dreams, but they all take place in this beautiful old, complicated victorian house. It is HUGE, like the Winchester Mystery House in CA, but it is white. It is well known (in my dream) as a "haunted" house.

Anyway, there is a room in the house that I am always afraid to go in, but inevitably in the dream, I have to go into it. The room is large, rectangular with a door on each end, and one in the middle (the door I walk in through) and there is an unlit black fireplace opposite the door that I walk through. It is kind of dark, and dirty. The room is inhabited/haunted by invisible demons, and I eventually feel a deeeeeep sense of dread, sometimes terror, and I always suddenly leave the room feeling horrified, shaken and stressed.

So, what the heck does this symbolize?? Any guesses?

I have discovered that as i live in a victorian property that is highly likely that we have a chimney so i will be able to have a real fire; we have many features a chimney breast, chimney pots and in another room we have a fully working one.

But the fireplace has been out of use for a long time and an electric fire that you turn on and off has been in the fireplace.

I would like to know how much it would cost to get the chimney cleared and cleaned out so that we are able to have a real fire?

What are the tests needed to be carried out and how much will it cost in total?

I nearly rented a house about a month ago. The landlord really grew to like me (she said she was very disappointed when she found out I wanted the house after she had rented it to someone else the same day) and said she wanted me in the house more than anyone. The house was leased starting this February for one year by another tenant. She told me next January she will ask the tenant if they want to renew and if not I am welcome to it.

I have realized I love this house and honestly I would do anything to get it. I am somewhat nervous that the tenant will want to renew and I really want this house. I feel also like it is a smarter time to buy a house than rent.

My question is, is there a good way to tell this woman/landlord that I would be interested in buying this house? She purchased it last year and planned to use it as her own house but decided to rent it instead. From public records I have determined it was purchased for ,000 and she is currently renting it I believe for 0. I would be willing to offer her a pretty good purchase price for the house.

Is there a best way to do this? Should I set up a time to meet her, call her, email? Most of our correspondence has been via email.

Just FYI it is a 2 bedroom house in Westland, MI. It features a fireplace and a large front porch, central air, built 1942.

I have a 42 inch plasma TV mounted above my fireplace. I also have an up-converting DVD player that needs to be pluged into the TV with an HDMI cable. Right now the cables are showing and it looks ugly. Any Ideas on a better way to do this? Is there any way to get the DVD player and wires out of sight? It does not have UHF.

okay so this is a question to all the wiser Catholics out there.
I was searching online for a home and saw a really nice one. I have been raised catholic all my life so it came to a surprise to find a picture of the homes fireplace and a statue of saint Jude on the mantel. My husband and I got curious and went to see the home and sure enough the statue of saint Jude is still there. Were puzzled because its a bank owned property and the rest of the house is completely empty, well at least the rooms we were able to see through the homes surrounding windows. We contacted the real estate agent but we haven’t heard back from them. Is there a catholic church reason for not removing the statue?
okay I would get it if family was selling the home but a bank. Why would they put the statue in the home or not remove it?
