We just bought an old victorian home, and there is a fireplace in the master bedroom. the original hearth is still on it, and the tiles on the surround are a mauve color. i dont know what color to paint the walls!! i dont like tan or off white, and the walls are pink now and it looks gross. it cant be yellow because room accross the hall is yellow, and i dont want them both to be. gray is a possibility, but then what would i do for curtains and the bed spread?

help!! :)
the hallway is painted sage, so i dont want that on the bedroom wall i dont think

Vermont Castings, I find, went bankrupt in July. Subsequently they were purchased by Monessen Hearth Systems. I’ve tried to contact them but have yet to receive a response. I need a replacement glass for one of the doors on my old Intrepid wood stove.

If I can’t buy a replacement, where would one go to have a piece of tempered glass cut to shape?

we are fitting a wood burning stove into a modern fireplace that had a gas fire. A gas engineer called today and said it would be fine to solder the end of the pipe, bury it in the screed we will need to level the back of the hearth and then put our 50mm slate on top. Is this a safe way of doing it? There will still be gas in the pipe but it will be a dead end.

We live in Nebraska and built our home last year. To keep costs down, we didn’t build in a fireplace and opted to have an electric type to move around instead. All the comps I have been doing have fireplaces/hearth rooms and I am hard pressed to find a home without a fireplace here. How much will that hurt when we sell? I know we may exclude certain buyers who absolutely want one, but it really wasn’t that important to us. I am just looking for a general figure…..our home is 4 beds, 2.5 baths and about 3000 sq ft with finished basement and 2 car garage, built in 2007 and bought for 177k.

I have red 1970′s style bricks in a fireplace, most of which will be knocked out to install a contemporary Jetmaster gaslog fire. The ones on the hearth need to remain, but I wanted to make them a bit of a feature and make them richer in colour and glossed. How do I do this, what product could I use? The floor will be wooden floorboards around these bricks. Any suggestions greatfully received.
