As fall and winter approach many families start to move their activities indoors but that need not be the case. If your family enjoys being outside you can extend the amount of days you can enjoy the outdoors by adding an outdoor gas fireplace. This is a cost effective way to add heat to an outdoor area. It can be in the form of a built in fireplace or even as fire pits. Either method brings warmth to the outdoors using a clean burning fuel.

Choosing An Outdoor Gas Fireplace

To chose a gas fireplace for an outdoor area select a brand name manufacturer with a good reputation. There are several really good manufacturers; they include Napoleon, Weber, and Stonegate. Each of these outdoor gas fireplace retailers has several models for you to choose from. They also all have several different models that range in price so you can certainly find one that fits your budget. Each of these manufacturers do have some options that are unique to their specific brand, models, and designs.

For example, Napoleon offers trademark glowing logs and can use either liquid propane or natural gas. They also offer a wall mounting control system. Stonegate offers a faux stone outdoor fireplace that looks real and blends in very well with any outdoor theme you may be trying to create. One of the models from Weber is the Flame and it is stainless steel, has a push button switch to ignite the fireplace and has weather shields that are removable. It is also not built in and it has weather resistant tires so they don’t crack in the outdoors.

Deciding Where To Install Your Outdoor Gas Fireplace

Once you have the make and the model for your outside fireplace you will need to determine where you are going to install it. Since this installation requires actually hooking up a gas line most of the manufacturers suggest that you hire a professional installer that is a certified NFI (National Fireplace Institute) as a gas specialist. Check with your installer to find out where the fireplace will be the easiest and most effective area for it to be, as it will need to be where you can actually feel the warmth from it but it also needs to be properly ventilated.

After you have your fireplace installed then you can begin to further enjoy the outdoors. There are many activities that you can use the area for now. For example there is nothing better than inviting a few friends over to watching a great football game outside. It is a perfect setting for barbequing and cheering on your team. What about enjoying movie night outside with the family? With the fireplace you can do this while not having to wear thick layers of clothing or shivering.

Winter is long enough and being cooped up in the house for the duration can slowly wear on one’s nerves. However if you add an outdoor gas fireplace to the area you will enjoy more of the fall and be the first people in your neighborhood outside as spring begins to roll around. This is a great way for you and your family to get together and enjoy the outdoors.
