i have two fireplaces in my home. one upstairs, one in the basement. can i put a gas insert in one of them?

i want to put a gas insert in the upstairs fireplace and burn wood in the basement fireplace. same chimney, seperate flues. can this be done?

Is it advisable to have two fireplaces in a log cabin?
