Does anyone know about wood burning stoves? How far it needs to be from durarock?

Installing a wood burning stove surrounded by durarock drywall and want to be far enough away to prevent problems.

I just bought a home with a fireplace, but I am not sure if it is usable?

I have just purchased an 8 year old home and it has a fireplace that I know nothing about. The owners said that it was used as a wood burning stove and is all set to be turned into a gas fireplace (which we prefer) it just needs to be connected. We had a licensed heating professional look at it and he said there was no gas line connected to the fireplace, and he was not sure how to do it or what this fireplace was originally intended for.

The plate on the fireplace reads, Warnock Hersey, Model KC-38-2, Fireplace No: 163610, Blower assembly model: 11781, Date fo MFR: B1, P/N – U, Risk of fire damage replace grate with Grate model SGR38 2.

Do you know anything about this or what we can purchase to make this fireplace usable? We would prefer gas, but will take what we can get.

Is it ok to block off a gas pipe, cover with concrete and leave under a slate hearth for a wood burning stove?

we are fitting a wood burning stove into a modern fireplace that had a gas fire. A gas engineer called today and said it would be fine to solder the end of the pipe, bury it in the screed we will need to level the back of the hearth and then put our 50mm slate on top. Is this a safe way of doing it? There will still be gas in the pipe but it will be a dead end.

Which increases home re-sale value more: a fireplace or a woodburning stove installed in a fireplace?
