We just bought an old victorian home, and there is a fireplace in the master bedroom. the original hearth is still on it, and the tiles on the surround are a mauve color. i dont know what color to paint the walls!! i dont like tan or off white, and the walls are pink now and it looks gross. it cant be yellow because room accross the hall is yellow, and i dont want them both to be. gray is a possibility, but then what would i do for curtains and the bed spread?
help!! ![]()
the hallway is painted sage, so i dont want that on the bedroom wall i dont think

I think the best color would be sage green. Something like the "Sage Sweater" option here:

Chocolate brown or gray are other options, and you could accent with something like this:

I might choose soft gray (Benjamin Moore wickham gray HC-171) or tan (BM Edgecomb gray HC-173) for both walls and bedding.

i really like the suggestion made by stages Edgecomb gray HC-173 because it’s not tan but it’s still neutral. you can paint the walls this tone and nail yellow hangings/items to the walls. this way you won’t have 2 yellow rooms but they can look related
