Choose a deep tone of the color of the felt on the pool table below the chair rail
and taupe above.

My parents were painting a game room, and liked a bunch of deep colors that complemented the dark wood of the pool table. They ended up choosing colors based on their college school colors. If you´re into inspriration I suppose that would work. I think I would just choose an atmosphere and make it fit that.
For example, if you want the room to be like a bar atmosphere I would reccomend some dark blues, reds or greens. Make sure you´ll have enough light though!
Go to this site and either upload a picture of your room or choose one of their scenes:

Type in terra cotta for the color and see the coordinating colors.
I think it might depend on the color of cloth on your pool table(if it’s green then just ignore it …it’s a pool table!) also but don’t let that stop you from using color in the room.
What color is the pool table? I’m hoping you’re answering "red". I had dinner at SW Steakhouse at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas in a back room for private parties an the walls were a dark wood paneling, the table was dark wood, there were red candles on the table and the window treatments (although there weren’t windows in that room) were natural white with red uplighting. I imagined it would be a great scheme for a game room.
My 2nd choice would be to stick with light and natural colors if it is the first room you walk into and IF you have a lot of natural light. My aunt has a super contemporary (but cozy) home and uses mostly only creamy whites and beiges with little natural black or copper accents. This maximizes the architectural elements of her home and the natural light.
red or orange
Hi. I have a pool room too. Half of my walls are wood. I did denim curtains and walls to keep it casual and fun. My pool table was green but I bought new felt off eBay in navy blue. We felted the table ourselves but took the rails in to have them professionally done.
I painted a light sky blue base on the walls and let that dry. Then I mixed a denim blue with glaze and water and rolled this on in small sections keeping a wet line for the next section. I let the paint sit for a few minutes until it started to lose the shine. Then I dragged a wall paper brush down the walls vertically and then across the walls horizontally. This gave it the denim look by allowing the light blue to come thru in lines. I really liked how it turned out.
Because if the wood in the room and the wood pool table all pictures were framed in light wood to match. I bought these at yard sales. It all ties in nicely.
