I got a fire place that needs to be decorated with rocks. The problem is those fake rocks, are in fact fake, and tend to be over priced. The real rocks you find even on sale are very expensive. What I really want to achieve is a natural look, and I want to achieve that with river rocks. I was thinking about going to Azusa canyon and picking some up, but its illegal in all the national parks, and such. So where can I get free rocks? I mean they are rocks. No Not Compton, not those kind of rocks.

If your steams have been picked clean you might want to try construction sites near streams. River rock would have been buried eons ago and construction crews digging them up are generally eager to get rid of them. RScott
Sometimes things take time, and so does rock collecting. You don’t have to go to a national park. Just go to stream beds. And that’s a good reason just to get out of the house and commune with nature. You could also post little notes on bulletin boards in your local super market.
